Jayda Davis

USA Boxing

My name is Jayda Davis and I am a USA female amateur boxer/Olympic hopeful.

To tell a little about myself… I am from Chesapeake, VA and a graduate from Oscar Frommel Smith High School. Currently a student at Norfolk State University, I am the Athletic Representative of Virginia for USA Boxing.

I started boxing in 2011 to stay out of trouble and to lose weight. I was a very angry, husky child. As I started progressing in Boxing, I set goals for myself and accomplished them one step at a time.

I am the daughter of Jonnie Davis Sr. And Sabrina Jenkins-Davis. My father was also a Olympic style boxer and competed in the 1996 Olympic trial. My parents support me and make great sacrifices to make sure I become successful in-and-out of the ring.

For the past 7 years, I have developed a passion for Boxing. I train three times a day to accomplish and to get to my goals and that is to make the Olympic Boxing Team for the 2020 Olympic Games held in Tokyo, Japan. In October, the 2018 Eastern Qualifiers will be held in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Qualifiers is a seven day boxing tournament. Once I win the tournament I will be qualified for the Olympic Trials in December held in Salt Lake City, Utah.
